Case
I work for a company in Beijing and help clients import electronic components from Japan. The client is in Heilongjiang Province, and the goods will be imported from Harbin International Airport. I am a novice. I have not calculated the cost of importing before. How should I calculate it? By the way, who is going to make the customs declaration?
Part 1
When doing import agency, foreign trade companies must first calculate the cost, mainly including goods payment, import tariff, value-added tax, miscellaneous fees involved in imported goods. The payment is the foreign exchange paid to the seller. With the exchange rate, you can convert it into the yuan cost. You also need to know the HS code of the goods and find out the import tariff rate, VAT rate. Then, based on CIF, you can calculate tariffs and VAT. There are also some notification fees, bills, customs declaration fees, shipping fees, inspection fees, inspection fees. You can usually ask the forwarder for these expenses.
Besides, the client should pay you an agency fee, which is the matter that you and the client should discuss. Finally, the money you get should be the goods payment + import tariff + value-added import tax + the miscellaneous fee + agency fee (you need to issue the VAT invoice for the customer, the client pays according to the invoice amount).
Part 2
Don’t worry about the customs declaration. The forwarder will help you with these things. You only need to provide letters of attorney and a full set of import documents, such as invoices, bills of lading, bills of lading, etc. You need to tell the forwarder the HS code of your imported products, which can be found in the Customs Code. When negotiating, you’d better understand the HS code of the product from the beginning, especially the regulatory conditions for the corresponding HS code, such as whether you need a license, and whether your company can apply for this license. If not, you cannot act as an agent for this business. And you should inform the client immediately to finding another suitable foreign trade company.
